Urban Legends
Urban legends are very old. People all over the world have told them for thousands and thousands of years. They are also known to be factual or fake. Not all urban legends are true. Like my favorite, “if you swallow gum, it takes seven years to digest through the body”.
One interesting urban legend is “chanting bloody Mary in front of a mirror summons a vengeful spirit.” You can never tell with this one. People say that its true and others say it’s totally false. So in other words, if you want to know the real truth about bloody Mary, call her yourself.
Another interesting legend is “people who go swimming less than one hour after eating will get a cramp and drown”. The answer is simply false. You can’t just get a cramp from eating and then going swimming. I say wait about 10-15 minutes then go swimming.
The last legend I think that is very interesting is my favorite, “if you swallow gum, it takes seven years to digest through the body.” Now I always used to believe this one, my parents always used to tell me that “if you swallow your gum its going to take seven years to go through your body.” I technically never believed them, but I thought about it, and as I got older I realized that it wasn’t true.
In conclusion, Urban Legends have been around for thousands and thousands of years. These are just the few of the urban legends that are out there. Also, not all urban legends are false; some of them are true too. So in other words urban legends have been around forever and are going to be around for a very long time.
